We have been collecting
old tiles for many years, most of them are from the
Victorian period and by many different companies
including Minton, Wedgwood, Sherwin & Cotton, Maw & Co
and others.
Our selection of original tiles have been made by
various techniques including Majolica, tube-lined,
transfer, moulded and tin glazed and are in a range of
styles; Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Aesthetic movement,
Victorian and Edwardian.
The Arts & Crafts movement was a very exciting period in
designs, many artists made a great impression to this
style; William Morris, John More Smith, August Welby
Pugin, Christopher Dresser, William De Morgan are but a
few of the well known names. Many other artists made a
massive contribution but remain unknown to this day.
Original Victorian tiles covered the greatest range of
styles from plain tiles, embossed floral tiles to
wildlife and landscape scenes.
Many reclaimed Art Nouveau tiles were tube lined tiles
noted by their simple design, sometimes with graceful
sinuous lines. These were made in limited quantities
over a short period of time and consequently are often
expensive.
